What to Expect in a First Session
The first session is an opportunity for us to get a sense of each other and see whether the work feels right for you.
We will usually:
Talk about what’s bringing you to therapy now
Explore any relevant background (relationships, mental health, work, etc.)
Clarify what you would like to be different
Discuss how we might work together (format, frequency, fees)
Give you space to ask any questions
You don’t need to arrive with a clear or coherent story.
Many people begin by feeling confused, overwhelmed, or “too much”—and that becomes the starting point.
“Some people never go crazy.
What truly horrible lives they must lead."”
Charles Bukowski
